The Best Robot Hoover
The best robot hoover can vacuum and mop without needing your attention. It will leave your floors spotless. Its affordable price and high-end functions (such as a dirt detectors) are both positives.
Make sure to check your robot's brushes frequently for tangled debris and hair. Wash them when necessary. Certain models also automatically empty the onboard dustbin and deposit it in an additional bin at the bottom. This reduces the amount fine dust that gets released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've test. robotvacuummops.uk feature top-of-the-line motors that can produce up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. And, like other top iRobot models (including the top choice) they employ smart mapping technology to design detailed floor plans and avoid home-based obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also come with carpet boost, a feature which boosts the robot's power when it detects the presence of dirt on the carpet in order to get it cleaned quickly.
Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors and are particularly effective in cleaning pet hair. They do have some flaws however, which prevent them from being our first choice. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is that its navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's thus susceptible to get stuck on socks and shoes and could not navigate through rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It doesn't also have a camera to see around corners.
It's still a good deal, especially if your home or office has a lot of unfinished floors and you're looking to save some money. Plus, it's very quiet and you can use it while you're at work or going to school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with self-emptying docks, however. If you need to mop, the mopping pad can be changed for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of just a few seconds.
2. IRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also comes with a self-emptying bin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, although it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.
This highly efficient mop and vacuum combo utilizes advanced sensors to dodge obstacles and pet waste and it learns the layout of your home over time to provide more efficient cleaning. The app lets you customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. It comes with a battery life that is similar to other models.
When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to take off and extend its mops. This helps prevent cross contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach beneath low-lying furnishings and along baseboards. It's not as efficient on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
In tests, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop that could complete an entire home, and it did so with only 66 percent of its battery left. It did a great cleaning job on various floors and rooms with different kinds of flooring, including some area rug. Its obstacle detection was excellent and it was able to avoid fake dog turds and socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.
It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature that we haven't seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
This robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular design that looks more like the regular Roomba model than the boxy models from the rivals. It's one of our most attractive looking robot vacuums. The newest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).
It's the only robot vacuum/mop that has a perfect 10 in our evaluations thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, which include a camera, structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mops.
The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It comes with an easy mobile application interface and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only downside is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This could be a problem in the mornings before work, or in the evening when you're trying to sleep.
It's also quite expensive however, not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally impressive and attractive. This is a two-in-one vacuum that's very capable, but it's going to cost you more and make more noise.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with a lot of advanced features to help you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner, similar to Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically emptys the vacuum's bin and fills up the water tank, and cleans and dries mop pads.
The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floorplans and identify obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its top competitors. It also has a camera mounted on the front for real-time detection of hazards but this was not foolproof in our testing and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.
Its vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to complete the task. It also comes with an option known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home based on how dirty these areas tend to be.
For larger houses, it's worth opting for a model that has zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean a particular area of your home using the app or voice controls. A stairway mode is useful if you own a number of furniture. For families that are busy, a recharge feature and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to continue from where it left off could be extremely useful.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you'd expect from its price tag. It's a pro at vacuuming, removing 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using only one pad and a reciprocating motion that cleans better that most of the robot mop cleaners that we've examined. It's self-sufficient too, with a full-featured application and a self-emptying, washable base.
The iRobot app is designed to guide you through the mapping process, which gathers information on your floorplan and any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or set up a spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize your dirtiest areas to improve performance. The app offers a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It is equipped with a powerful 8000 Pascal suction as well as clever combs for removing pet hair. You can also organize a spot-cleaner that thoroughly cleans the area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are shaped like adorable eyes. It does a good job vacuuming, but is more prone to get caught on low thresholds and is louder than the other top robotic vacuums we've examined. It also comes with an app that's less intuitive, and a smaller base station that doesn't double as a bin for emptying.
